There is no doubt that 2020 has been one heck of a year…

… In Victoria, we started the year with some the worst bushfires in recorded history and, just as we were starting to recover from the shock and loss of bushfire season; along came the atom-bomb of viruses; Covid_19

Initially, while it slowed down business, many of us thought we would be back in full-scale business by June or July. Sadly, as we in Melbourne are all too aware, we are currently in the grip of Covid_19 rising death tolls, businesses either closed or operating at minimum capacity and the prospect of a seriously weakened economy. And, given the physical and financial strain on all of us, it might seem like cutting costs by reducing your commercial cleaning routine, is a logical option.  Believe us when we say, it’s not. There is only one thing worse than a failing business, or economy and that is your failing health. There is a reason why most of us have used the cliché “at least I have my health,” because it is the most important thing.

Over the past few weeks, we have had several of our regular commercial premises suggest that we need to better compete in the marketplace. We’ve been told of, what could only be described as opportunistic fly-by-nighters, offering to clean business premises for fees that are, frankly ludicrous; and cannot be sustainable by an actual professional cleaning company.

We are fully cognizant of the need to economise, however, remember, when it comes to cleaning, and especially when it comes to performing a State Government approved Covid DEEP CLEAN, you need professionals.

Throughout this post, there will be links to government pages, which will assist your business in ensuring that your Deep Cleaning Team is accredited, professional, qualified and licensed. We will also be sharing with you what makes our ACS Cleaning Melbourne Team the right choice for you. And remember, the wrong choice could literally put you or someone you care about in physical danger, as well as potentially costing you and your company/business a very hefty fine.

What is a Virus and how does it differ from a Bacteria?

Put simply, Bacteria are living, self-contained organisms, who reproduce on their own, while a virus requires a host to live in and through which is spreads (reproduces).

Covid_19 has been identified as an airborne virus. In other words, it travels through the air, landing on surfaces, until another potential host picks it up by touching a contaminated surface.  Covid_19 has been shown to have a varying life on difference surfaces also. In other words, it can sit on cardboard, metal or wood, etc., and live for varying lengths of time. If another potential host touches a contaminated surface, and then, for example, wipes their nose or shake someone’s hand, the virus has now spread to several new hosts. And because it has a surface life that varies, the virus can remain on a surface for some time, before infecting a new host, who in turn, further spreads the virus.

And this is why Melbourne is in full Stage4 Lockdown. However, lockdown alone will not eliminate the potential surface contamination; only a professional Deep Clean of your premises can do that.

So, what should you be doing NOW?

Thorough and efficient cleaning for commercial and residential spaces are the utmost importance now. That’s why you need a professional cleaning company ACS Cleaning Melbourne. And for medical practices, where public fear of Covid_19 contamination is real, there needs not only be regular active Covid Deep Cleaning performed, your patient’s need to know when, who and how those Deep Cleans are happening – and that those performing them are fully accredited.

Below is a statement from the State Government on Covid Safe Practices.

“If you are a high-risk industry (construction, warehousing and distribution, supermarket and medical distribution centres) your COVIDSafe Plan must be complemented by a High Risk COVIDSafe Plan if you operate in metropolitan Melbourne.

If you are an abattoir or meat processing (including seafood and poultry), you must complete a High Risk COVIDSafe Plan regardless of where you operate in Victoria.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) business support and the Industry Coordination Centre

The Business Victoria website and hotline provide information on restrictions and support to help your workplace plan and respond to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Call Business Victoria on 13 22 15.”

To assist all businesses in preparing and committing to an effective Covid Safe plan, we have included two state government links.

These links will help each business owner, or company director know their obligations during this very demanding period, including ensuring those claiming to be Covid_19 Deep Clean Accredited, are – as it is also the Businesses responsibility to check their cleaner is a professional cleaner.

Frightening fact: Covid_19 has the ability to cling to the body before entering our air passages. In other words, you could potentially touch a desk, or phone, or kettle contaminated with Covid_19, the virus could then cling to your hand, and you could, unknowingly rub your face and before you know it, you have been infected.

Cleaning and disinfection

Cleaning and disinfecting are two different processes. Cleaning means physically removing germs, dirt and organic matter from surfaces while Disinfecting means using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces. A combination of cleaning and disinfection will be most effective in removing the COVID-19 virus. Cleaning reduces the soil load on the surface, allowing the disinfectant to work and kill the COVID-19 virus. Disinfectant may not kill the virus if the surface has not been cleaned with a detergent first.

Routine cleaning

Regardless if you are working from home, or if you are permitted to work from your premises, clean all surfaces at least daily, and in high-risk areas, (kitchens, bathrooms), they should be cleaned several times a day.

Professional Deep Clean should be done at least 1x per week to ensure all surfaces are both clean and disinfected. Our professional cleaning team will ensure all surfaces, from door handles, light switches, fridge doors and bathroom mirrors, will be expertly cleaned, and disinfected.

Busy retail environments, or medical practices, where numerous people are moving in and out, need to be especially diligent with regular, hourly, daily, and weekly cleaning.

But why chose ACS Cleaning Melbourne, surely cleaning is cleaning right?

Wrong! Our Team of cleaners have been trained in hygiene and safe environmental practices. Our Team has been vetted and police checked, for your security, for the security of any confidential files your business may hold on it’s premises, and to meet your own insurance policies – think about it, should a break in or damage happen to your premises, the first thing the police and your insurance company will ask is who had access to the building.

And there’s also the fines to your business. While Cleaners are on the ‘Permitted’ list, there is a government required process by which all workers, be they employees, contractors, sub-contractors or franchisee’s, must adhere to, in order to meet the Worker-Permit-Scheme.

Below is a direct quote from the State Government website. Take particular note of the fines, with penalties for businesses of up to almost 100,000 per breach, per business.

General information on the Permitted Worker Scheme

From 11:59pm Wednesday 5 August, workplaces in Melbourne must be closed unless:

Why ACS Cleaning Melbourne?

Our team of Franchisee’s and Staff are all professional, well trained and competent. They have passed Health and Safety requirements and have been police checked for your security.

ACS Cleaning Melbourne adheres to a strict set of Cleaning Protocols. And while every workplace has particular needs, our policies, which include glove and mask wearing, colour coding of cloths and mops (to eliminate cross-contamination) and special attention to the ‘little’ things like door handles, light switches and walls to arm-reach height, ensure nothing is missed.

Because Covid_19 has shown itself to be so highly contagious, and with ‘mystery cases’ increasing every day, there really cannot be any complacency. A lack of action now could literally result in someone’s death.

For those businesses currently in full lockdown, we are strongly recommending a complete DEEP CLEAN now. This will ensure any potential virus contamination will be treated. We are also recommending a second Deep clean in 3-4 weeks. As noted earlier, this virus is airborne. It is possible, that, over the coming 3-4 weeks, someone within your building, who is Covid_19 positive, could potentially contaminate the area. Perhaps a driver delivering products, a maintenance person completing urgent repairs, a take-away food delivery driver, even an open-air vent or bathroom window.

By doing a second Deep Clean, our Team will not only ensure any dust, dirt or bacteria that may have built up in the past 2-3 weeks, is cleaned, but by completing a full disinfect also, you will know that your working environment is safe for everyone entering your business.

For those still working within their premises, it is vital to arrange a full Deep Clean immediately, and to maintain weekly Deep Cleans, at least for the forceable future. Imagine if an outbreak were to happen at your premises. The VERY BEST scenario would be you are fully shut down and your workers are sent home. The worst-case scenario is too heartbreaking to consider.

To assist our clients, we have created several simple but useful information sheets; information they can use between Deep Cleans, to assist in maintaining hygiene practices and to also help in assessing the potential dangers of future visitors to a site. This will be sent out with your next cleaning booking.

Do not short-change yourself with an untrained and non-permitted individual or group to clean your premises.  You might save a few dollars (assuming you are not caught by the government and fined), but you may pay a very high price if someone you know and care about contracts Covid_19 from your premises.
